Fletcher pulled Wrexham level late in the first-half after the conceded an early goal in the League Two match on New Year's Day before Mullin made it 2-1 on the stroke of half-time by bending in a beautiful set-piece. Fletcher then struck twice more to give the home team a significant 4-1 win, but it was the team's talisman who earned the Scottish forward's praise.

"They can all put stuff on the ball that I could only dream of," he said. "The way they hit it, and I'm like: 'How did you… how?' The ball's going… it looks like it's going 30 yards over the bar and next minute it just dips under and you're thinking: 'That's ridiculous'."

Wrexham's win saw the Welsh side cut the gap on League Two leaders Stockport County to two points as the latter suffered a 2-0 loss to Mansfield, who are now second in the table. Wrexham have a game in hand over Stockport, but Mansfield, who are level on points with the Red Dragons, have played two fewer matches.
