According to WolvesBite, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ pursuit of Hwang Hee-Chan will be put on hold until the summer while summer signing Patrick Cutrone has returned to training after his move to Fiorentina has also stalled.
What’s the word?
It is believed that Hee-Chan’s current club, RB Salzburg, will not sell the 23-year-old this month after losing two key members of their squad in Erling Haaland (to Borussia Dortmund) and Takumi Minamino (to Liverpool).
The report claims that Wolves still hold an interest in the South Korean, but it seems increasingly likely that they will have to wait until the end of the season to clinch him.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports have revealed that Cutrone’s potential switch back to Italy has somewhat fallen through after the Serie A side offered a loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
The 22-year-old is now back training with the first-team following his absence from their FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United.
Significant setback?
These latest updates come as a huge blow to manager Nuno Santo’s plans for this month after previous claims suggesting he would look to bolster his options during the transfer window.
Cutrone’s future at Molineux is surely in doubt, not just because of his near-exit this week, but also because Nuno has barely played him at all this season.
The former AC Milan forward has averaged just 35 minutes per game in his 24 appearances, scoring three times in the process, via Transfermarkt.
He’s not expected to feature this month either, according to the Express & Star, so it’s clear he’s an unwanted man at the minute.
Salzburg’s unwillingness to allow Hee-Chan to leave the club has scuppered the Portuguese boss’ plans to ship Cutrone out and bring in a replacement.
