Leeds have had a third bid rejected for Che Adams. The offer was an incredibly generous one as well – the Whites were willing to cough up a £20m summer payment for the striker if they were promoted, making Adams one of the most expensive players in the club’s history, and providing the Saints with a £5m profit on a striker that hasn’t scored since joining the club. You’d think that would be the end of that, £20m isn’t enough to land the attacker, and Ralph Hasenhuttl has made his stance on the matter very clear. However, the Whites aren’t willing to give up on this one just yet.

What’s the story then?
Graham Smyth was one of the first journalists to break the story of the latest Adams bid being rejected, and as you can imagine, this news garnered a lot of reaction on social media.
Understandably, a number of fans asked if this was the end of Leeds’ interest in the Southampton forward, but Smyth says that the Whites aren’t willing to close this chapter.
Time to give up
Usually, a ‘never say die’ type of attitude is a good thing in football, but you can’t help but feel that this is incredibly naive from Leeds.
Southampton quite clearly don’t want to sell Adams – they’ve turned down a £5m profit on a striker who hasn’t scored a single goal since arriving at St Mary’s.
Saints turning this offer down may seem stupid, but Leeds continuing their interest is even more dumbfounding.
£20m is a lot of money, and a team severely underperforming its xG needs an attacker who can consistently find the net, not a man who hasn’t scored since last April.
Making the offer in the first place was silly, but continuing your interest after being rejected is simply foolish.
In other news, a journalist from The Athletic has made an interesting prediction about one Leeds transfer target.
