Lots of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to say that they don’t want Ajax sensation Matthijs de Ligt to become their highest earner, after The Mirror reported that it will take such a move to lure him to Anfield.
The report states that the Reds will need to completely rip up their wage structure in order to land the promising Dutch international, a move that would risk upsetting the dressing room harmony amongst the players.

Manchester United have reportedly offered the 19-year-old £236k-a-week whilst PSG have offered £256k-a-week; the Champions League winners would almost certainly need to put De Ligt ahead of £200k-a-week Mohamed Salah and £150k-a-week Virgil van Dijk in order to sign him.
Given the fact that the teenager has little experience and is only just starting to emerge as a real star, a number of Liverpool fans don’t want to see a 19-year-old placed on better wages than their world-class first-team heroes – it would certainly be a controversial move.
