Tottenham Hotspur look set for disappointment in the hunt for the services of teenage talent Sam Lautenschutz as Chelsea currently lead the race, according to The Sun.
What’s the word?
Mauricio Pochettino has helped established Tottenham as one of the best clubs in English football to develop young talents and this has aided the Lilywhites in their search for the next generation of stars in North London.
Harry Kane and Dele Alli stand as the two biggest examples as young players given their chance who have gone on to become key assets, and Pochettino’s side are battling their top-flight rivals for the services of other future stars.
However, The Sun says Spurs are set for disappointment in the hunt for 15-year-old Dutch midfielder Sam Lautenschutz as London rivals Chelsea are leading the race for his signature, leaving Manchester City, Leicester and Charlton also disappointed.
A major loss?
It is far too early to assess whether this would be a significant loss for Spurs, as there is still a number of things that could change, but missing out on a talented youngster to an arch-rival is enough to raise some concerns.

Firstly, Tottenham should be able to persuade young talents to join their club by presenting evidence that they will have the pathway to advance into the first-team picture if they perform – something that Chelsea have consistently failed to do.
It is no secret that Spurs cannot compete financially with the top teams in the Premier League but this is an area that could save the club millions in the coming years, so it may well be worth Pochettino taking a look into his side’s youth recruitment to find possible areas of improvement.
